––SELF INITIATED BREIF
How would you describe the significance of numbers? Numbers and data are a part of our everyday lives and routines. Using the 2019 ISTD student awards briefs as an inspiration, using this theme as the genre and direction for my self initiated project ‘The Significance of Numbers’.
By generating a concept involving numbers I played on the idea of an engaging experience for an audience, an intellectually stimulating game which tests your brain to think deeper into the meaning of numbers. This game captures your attention by placing everyday senarios in front of you and working out how numbers are involved.
HOW TO PLAY––
The game set contains six playing cards, a six-sided dice and a manual. Before you start, lay out the six playing cards with the photograph side faced down, and with the dice and manual ready to play. To start, each take it in turns to roll the dice. Pick up the card which corresponds to the number of dots on the dice. Turn over the playing card. Then Observe the card carefully, how many numbers are embedded in the photographed scenario. Once considered all of the playing card follow the key to the manual for instructions to some of the answers.
How would you describe the significance of numbers? Numbers and data are a part of our everyday lives and routines. This is a game which reveal numbers which you would not usually consider recognising as a part of your day to day lives, I’m going to make the invisible visible. This game will lead you to the realisation that everything is coated in numbers.
